Global Crisis. Local Solution.
The world is facing a teacher shortage crisis. UNESCO reports that 44 million teachers are needed globally by 2030, with Sub-Saharan Africa requiring 15 million of them. Teachers are leaving the profession within their first five years at alarming rates, and young people no longer see teaching as a desirable career.
In Nigeria, this crisis hits hard. Early years and primary school teachers are underpaid, undertrained, and undervalued. Many teachers come to the profession as a last resort. Those who genuinely care often lack the resources and support they need. The result? Children who don't receive the quality foundation they deserve during the most critical years of brain development.
OneTeacher Nigeria was born to change this story.
Our Response
Transforming Education Together
OneTeacher Nigeria was founded to change the story. We're an educator-based initiative focused on early years and primary school teachers, elevating the profession through advocacy, support, and training.
We're building a new generation of inspired educators, OneTeacher at a time.

Why We Focus on Early Years Education
We focus on early years education because it's the building block of all learning. The science is clear:
-
Over 80% of a child's brain is formed by age 3
-
More than one million neural connections form every second during early childhood, a pace that never happens again
-
Quality pre-primary education is the foundation for every stage of learning that follows
-
Yet in Sub-Saharan Africa, only 1 in 4 children have access to early childhood education
If we want to transform education, we must start at the beginning. And that means investing in the teachers who shape these critical early years.

Our Mission
To elevate the teaching profession by raising an inspired generation of early years and primary school teachers.

Our Vision
A world where early years and primary school teachers thrive and are appreciated.

Our Goal
Train 10,000 new teachers in the next decade. Expand to other countries facing the same crisis.
